Energy Services:
Energy Model:
Using Hot2000 software, developed by Natural Resources Canada, your new or existing home can be virtually modeled to assess energy performance.*
Solar Energy Model:
A solar energy model will help to show the potential for available solar energy in a given location at various times of the year. This information can then be used to assess appropriate options for solar energy capture.*
Shadow Study:
For homeowners concerned about potential shading on their own property or for neighbours concerned about shade impact due to new development adjacent to their property.*
*These services are available pre-construction.
On Site Consultation Services:
Pre drywall thermal bypass inspection (Pre-drywall inspection):
This test is conducted after insulation and air barrier (ie. Poly) has been installed in the home. This walk through inspection looks to identify potential trouble areas in the home's insulation level and installation before drywall and finishing is applied.
Pre drywall air tightness test and reporting:
Completed at the same time as the thermal bypass inspection, this test uses a blower door fan to test for air leakage prior to final drywall install.
Final Air Tightness Test:
The final air tightness test takes place as close to final possession as possible, to ensure the home is as finished as possible for best results. This test quantifies the total amount of leakage from gaps in the envelope. By using a smoke pencil, leakage areas can be identified.
**This service is available for existing homes.
Outdoor Ventilation / Local Exhaust Performance Testing:
Using a flow metering station or flow hood, the HVAC flow rates are verified and, if found deficient, recommendations are made for improvement.
** This service is available for existing homes.
Environmental Design and Consultation:
Choices in the design and construction of a home are many. When it comes to performance, our energy simulation modeling will provide the information clients need to make the right decision, based on today’s construction costs and tomorrow’s energy prices. With your family’s health paramount, careful choices with mechanical systems and finish help ensure that it is protected.
